Mountain Credit Union is committed to the credit union industry's
motto of "People Helping People." We believe we support that motto
by giving back to the communities we serve. In keeping with our
commitment to improve the quality of our members' lives, our employees
have given of their time and talents by involving themselves in
their communities. We are very proud of our employees' willingness
to devote many lunch hours, weekday evenings and Saturdays to a
variety of worthwhile projects.
Franklin [Macon County] Home Delivered Meals Program, the Franklin
Holiday Angel programs, Fletcher Parks and Recreation, and Habitat
for Humanity were recipients of MFCU employees' time and energies
this past year. Employees in Asheville and Waynesville shopped for,
prepared meals, served and helped clean up at ABCCM and the Open
Door Soup Kitchen.
Several of our employees in Waynesville and Cherokee provided tutoring to numerous students in elementary schools. Whether it is assisting in the preparation for tests, helping with homework, helping out in the library, or just reading to/with a student, our employees were willing to do whatever they could to help these students.
We're very proud of our employees and their commitment to our communities. Without volunteers like them, these organizations would not be as successful as they are. Please let them know you appreciate their efforts on behalf of the community!
This community support also extends to our commitment to higher
education and learning. Every year Mountain Credit Union awards
$2,500 in scholarships to deserving members. This program provides
$500 educational scholarships to one member from each of our offices
either entering or attending an accredited two or four-year college.
To date, the Scholarship Fund has awarded more than 18 scholarships
totaling over $10,000.
In October of every year, Mountain Credit Union honors its members
on International Credit Union Day. It is our day to thank our members
for being loyal and dedicated to MCU. Without our members, Mountain
Credit Union could not continue to grow and prosper. Come celebrate
with us on the third Thursday in October!!!
